Brr! Baby it’s cold outside! We’re just about to move into the final month of Winter and Spring can’t come fast enough for Mr Sticky and I.
July has been lots of fun. My list of favourite things for July 2013:
1. Have you tried turning it on and off again?
We had a death in the family this week. My beloved MacBook had been dying a slow death over the last few months. I was spending about 10% of my time working, 90% staring a the “spinning ball” waiting for the MacBook to process commands = 100% of the time yelling in frustration.
Mama and Papa Sweet had so genrously purchased my MacBook when I was starting my uni degree so it had a good 5+ year run. It was time to invest in a younger model and now that I have the shiny new MacBook Pro I wish I had done it much earlier. This post took me a third of the time. WOOHOO!
2. Parting is such sweet sorrow…
After nearly four years at ‘The Day Job’ I decided it was time to move on to a new adventure…. without really knowing what that would be. For the time being that’s working as a freelancer managing social media strategy. So if you need someone fabulous in the digital/social/PR space, I’m your girl.
I was very sad to leave the company but they gave me a beautiful send off with Lemon Meringue Pie, homemade Salted Caramel Macarons (below left), farewell lunches, cake themed presents and a bouquet of flowers from Little Flowers. Little Flowers is such a fabulous concept – for $25 (including delivery) you receive a small bunch of seasonal flowers wrapped in hessian. You don’t get to choose the blooms but I kind of like them taking out the guess work.
Is dognapping always a crime? This little sweetheart lives about 50m from my apartment and it was mutual love at first sight (or sniff… for her). Her name is Ginger, she is a six month old smooth tan dachshund. Her hobbies include supervising her human’s DIY projects (and getting paint all over herself), sun baking and greeting her adoring fans.
4. Ain’t no party like a Onsie Party.
Mr Sticky and I know how to party. A good party is obviously when you invite your besties over for an adults PJ party.
A ‘Winter Onsieland’ party requires: adult onsies, comfort food and really trashy movies (read: Sharknado).
I served spicy popcorn, pulled chicken mexican burgers (using Claire K Create’s Slow Cooker Chicken Burriotos recipe) with all the usual toppings, sides of mac n cheese and sweet potato fries, then an apple and berry crumble for dessert.
5. The Chur Burger craze.
I checked out the Chur Burger craze with Miss Piggy Eats and Local Sprouts and I have to say… I didn’t love it. I know, crazy right? It’s received such a HUGE blogger response that I think my expectations were out of proportion. Overall I thought the burgers were OK, the atmosphere was great and the service was friendly and accommodating. I would try different items on the menu next time and see if there was a stand out dish to tell you about.
